Overview
Resident Barbell Club is a specialized Olympic weightlifting gym focused on the snatch and the clean & jerk. It operates as a second location within a broader gym community, serving experienced lifters, visiting athletes, and members looking for 24/7 access to a focused training space.
The owner reached out to me to help fast-track the launch of a clean, professional website that clearly explained the gym’s purpose and made it easy for people to sign up, drop in, or learn more about Olympic weightlifting.
The Challenge
The project had a tight timeline and a very specific goal: launch quickly without sacrificing clarity or quality. The site needed to explain a technical sport to new visitors, highlight the gym’s training environment, and connect seamlessly to an existing membership and payment system.
The client already had strong photography and basic copy, but it needed to be expanded, structured, and applied consistently across the site to guide visitors from first impression to action.

Approach
We chose to build the site on Squarespace, which the client was already comfortable using and which fit the project’s scope and timeline well. Together, we reviewed templates and selected one that supported strong visuals and straightforward navigation.
I consolidated all provided assets and expanded the copy to fully populate the site from navigation and page sections to calls to action and contact flows. Where content was missing or underdeveloped, I filled in gaps to ensure the site felt complete, intentional, and easy to understand.
Solution
The final website presents a clear, focused experience that reflects the gym’s identity and makes it easy for visitors to take the next step. The site highlights Olympic weightlifting fundamentals, showcases the gym through high-quality imagery, and directs users to membership and drop-in options through external portals.
I also handled foundational SEO setup, image optimization for performance, and small but important details like favicon setup, footer structure, and consistent metadata—ensuring the site was launch-ready and built on a solid technical foundation.

Outcome
The website launched in about a week and now serves as a central reference point for members, visitors, and out-of-town lifters. It requires very little ongoing maintenance and gives the gym a professional, credible online presence that matches the quality of its training environment.
